NYC - Part 3
Photo Diary
Day 4
Our last day in New York (and Alina's only day in NY!) as we were headed for Boston that night. We tried to fit as many things as possible, thinking we could do a lot more but in reality ran out of time.  Our first stop was the Empire State Building. It took a long time to get up there, moving through all the lines and the really cheesy green screen photograph they force you to take but once you get to the top it is worth it.
Here my face is not covered out of vanity. In fact I was smiling nicely. A few weeks ago Courtney and I were discussing how we disliked the connotations of 'let's take a photograph'. Especially being a tourist at a prime tourist spot. Stand here, smile, stand over there, smile, stand in front of this, smile. This is exactly what I did in this particular photo for whatever reason, although I remember feeling uncomfortable and unsure as to why I had a weird smile plastered on my face. When was editing all these photos I begun to cover my face and de-construct it, simply because it didn't capture a genuine moment. It was forced, posed and fake and this is what I ended up with, I prefer it.
My Dad told us that seeing New York from the Empire State will show you how small New York really is. Alina and I were baffled and thought that was hilarious because seeing it from that view  further emphasised what an immense city it is! But then again we come from little New Zealand.
Everyone fighting to take a photograph.
Above photo taken by Alina on this thing called an iphone.
What's going down?
After the Empire State Building we walked to 5th Ave for Alina to see. We immediately headed to Tiffany's to have our own Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Because Tiffany's designed all the jewellery for The Great Gatsby, there was Great Gatsby themed displays in the windows. Once inside we discovered to our enthralment that there was a Great Gatsby expedition inside.
Above taken on my digital. I had run out of film at this point.
I was in absolute awe staring at Daisy's headpiece (also because it sat on Carey Mulligan's head eee), it was so affluent in person. I took more photos of the jewellery but I don't want to get too excessive and bore you here, soooo moving on.
Not just any souvenirs. CUTE souvenirs!
 HOT DOGS!
We ate some lunch in Central park and observed all the unique characters surrounding us.
MoMa was next. I looooooooooved MoMa. I could of spent the whole day in there.
There's me watching some video and matching the backdrop. I'M JUST SO IN MY ELEMENT!
We headed back to the hotel to pack up, say goodbye to family, eat food and get to the bus station in Chinatown.
Once on the bus I stared out the window watching until we left the city behind us. I said a silent goodbye to New York, knowing I would be back soon. It was bittersweet, because I was heading to Boston to stay with my very good friend Nicole!
This is the cute little Travel Journal I documented everything in, that Alina fittingly gave me awhile ago.
And the playlist I made and listened to constantly while exploring alone in New York. Enjoy!

Day 3 - Saturday
My third day in New York begun bright and early by walking to Hell's Kitchen Flea Markets on W 39th Street. It was fun sifting through all the little treasures and knick-knacks. I had my Minolta in hand, when I spotted the exact same one (but worse condition). I bought a wool hat from a self-proclaimed 'crazy hat lady'. I then caught the subway to the Hester Street Fair 2013 opening on Essex Street. This was definitely my favourite of all the markets I visited! I luck enough to be in New York on the weekend, when most markets are on.
Afterwards I dashed to Chelsea to make the Rush line for tickets to documentary, Teenage by Matt Wolf , premièring at Tribeca Film Festival. Right next to me was Hotel Chelsea. Unfortunately it was under reconstruction so I was not able to walk the halls and imagine seeing glimpses of Patti Smith or Bob Dylan or all the other creative people that have previously lived there.
Also right next door was the renowned Doughnut Planet. They were all so appealing, I got coconut cream!
I explored Chelsea some more and came across some food markets continuing down one street for miles.
Back on the subway again to head to Central Park where I was to meet my sister to hang.
Here we are hanging.
We chilled and ate hot dogs in the sunshine.
Then she wanted to shop on 5th Ave, I tried suggesting some clothes to her but instead got looks of disgust. We decided to read books in Barnes and Noble, until we met my Dad for a drink. I then rushed to the subway station to meet my friend Alina, who was arriving from San Francisco! It was super exciting greeting her as she came off the subway. We ate at Carnegie Deli, just because it had been suggested we had too. I do not suggest it at all, it was overpriced and average, glad we experienced it anyhow. It is just a tourist trap, AGAIN. Carnegie Hall was across the road, so at least you can see that. We saw the weirdness of Times Square again.
Being weird and happy and excited that we are in NY together, yay!
